My original intention for this blog was to play through every CRPG and adventure game ever made in chronological order. Obviously that was never going to happen, but I stuck with it for a while and made it through most of my list up to 1979. After a while I got bored of playing subpar obscurities, and I introduced a Priority List, a list of the games that I actually want to play before I die. I interspersed those with the chronological list, and continued in that manner for a time before ennui caught up with me again.
THE PRIORITY LIST
Currently, I'm focusing solely on the Priority List. I intend to cycle back to the Chronological List one day when I have more time, but for now I prefer to focus on games that I'm excited to play, or that have more historical significance. As of this update, these are the Priority List games that I've already played:
- Priority CRPG 1: Akalabeth (1979)
- Priority Adventure 1: Mystery House (1980)
- Priority CRPG 2: Rogue (1980)
- Priority Adventure 2: The Wizard and the Princess (1980)
- Priority CRPG 3: Ultima (1981)
- Priority Adventure 3: Mission: Asteroid (1980)
- Priority CRPG 4: Wizardry: Proving Ground of the Mad Overlord (1981)
My schedule for the Priority List going forward, up to the end of 1981, looks like this:
- Priority Adventure 4: Strange Odyssey (1979)
- Priority Adventure 5: Mystery Fun House (1979)
- Priority Adventure 6: Pyramid of Doom (1979)
- Priority Adventure 7: Zork: The Great Underground Empire (1980)
- Priority Adventure 8: Ghost Town (1980)
- Priority CRPG 5: Dunjonquest: Morloc's Tower (1980)
- Priority Adventure 9: Savage Island Part 1 (1980)
- Priority Adventure 10: Adventure (1980)
- Priority CRPG 6: Dunjonquest: Hellfire Warrior (1980)
- Priority Adventure 11: The Prisoner (1980)
- Priority CRPG 7: Odyssey: The Complete Apventure (1980)
- Priority Adventure 12: Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz (1981)

For what it's worth if you feel compelled to chip away at the chronological list, Lost Dutchman's Gold is a pretty easy one-sitting playthrough. My wife and I spent an evening with it some months back and enjoyed it for what it is.
